Collecting for the future: Does the Harris have the right stuff?
Discover Preston display
From 3rd October 2016
The Harris is full of stuff – crammed to the rafters with historical treasures, paintings and pots, costume and curiosities. None of it belongs to us – it belongs to you – and we want you to tell us what you think!
The ‘Collecting for the future’ display case is a mix of things the Harris has recently collected or are thinking of collecting. Alongside each item we’ve put down our thoughts about whether we should add it to the collection or not – but what do you think?
Is the Harris collecting the right kind of stuff?
Are we missing the things that you would really like to see?
What are the stories about Preston that matter to you?
We need your ideas to help guide what the Harris collects in the future. You can leave your ideas on our message pad next to the display case or get in touch by emailing James Arnold firstname.lastname@example.org . Or contact us on Twitter or Facebook .
We’d love to hear from you!
The display includes a textile designed and made at the David Whitehead studio in Rossendale. This has been acquired with the generous support of the Art Fund, the DCMS/V&A Purchase Grant Fund, the Friends of the Harris and the Harris Trust.
