We might be nearing the end of Mental Health Awareness Week, but we still have content to share. In this blog we’ll be looking at our top picks for mindfulness reading. Many people have probably heard of mindfulness but explaining what it is exactly can be a little complicated.
Mindfulness is about maintaining a moment by moment awareness of your thoughts and feelings. To simplify it’s about fully living in the present and mindfulness exercises are often used to help in the treatment of mental health conditions like depression and anxiety.
Mindfulness can be practiced in a number of ways and there are even mindfulness exercises. So, let’s look at some books that make great reading for learning more about mindfulness.
Be Mindful and Stress Less – Gina Biegel
This book is designed to make mindfulness easier by looking at 50 ways you can easily practice it. It looks at life-hacks, small mindfulness exercises, and more techniques you can easily integrate into your daily routine. If you’re new to mindfulness it’s a great way to get started.
The Mind Hack Recipe – Jason Mangrum
The mind hack recipe is another great book to try if you are new to mindfulness. It explores numerous different techniques you can try including the 7 main techniques of mindfulness. The book also explores the science behind mindfulness as well and explores why the techniques can help.
What Now by Yael Shy looks at mindfulness through the lens of a young adult and explores techniques they can use as they’re going through life. It explores how adults can easily get lost during this time in their life and examines mindfulness techniques that can help you stay grounded. Yael also shares her own story and tells of how these techniques helped her.
Meditation for Daily Stress – Michael Pascal
Mediation teacher Michael Pascal looks at 10 practices he learned to help deal with stress and help care for your mental well-being. He explores how mediation and other practices can help with issues like depression, anxiety, and stress and how you can get started.
Don’t Feed the Monkey Mind – Jennifer Simpson
This ebook explores the common tri-factor of anxiety, fear, and worry which are all common side-effects of mental health conditions. The guide examines how these problems feed into each other and talks about how to put a stop to them. It explores cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness techniques to help you build a healthier start of mind and free yourself from these problems.
