A daguerreotype was the first commercially successful photographic process in the history of photography. Each image is on silvered copper plate. This photo dates back 175 years and features John Addison and his daughter Anne Agnes Crofton in 1846.

This precious part of the collection is on display as part of a solo exhibition by artist Abigail Reynolds. Her new work for the Harris also displays rare books along with a moving image work giving voices to these objects and exploring the secret places of the Harris.
