A Reflection of Our Young People’s Voices at The Harris
Back in November we introduced Nanci, our new Content and Marketing Assistant, and Almaas, our new Events and Social Media Co-ordinator.
It’s a few months later and the two of them are preparing to take the next steps in their careers. In this article, Nanci and Almaas talk about their experiences and reflect on their time at The Harris.
Nanci: Content and Marketing Assistant
While at The Harris, Nanci worked with the marketing team on social media and website content, market research, and photography and video content.
Nanci said: “I have had the best time working at The Harris. Everyone was so welcoming and supportive and I was able to truly thrive creatively in my role.
There was a great variety of things for me to work on, from writing articles to editing videos. Every day was different, but it was always engaging and exciting.
Working at The Harris has shown me that I have a passion for things I had never tried before and it has really helped me feel more confident in myself and in my work.
Going forward from The Harris, I feel capable and inspired to continue being creative and working hard.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience”.
Almaas: Events and Social Media Co-ordinator
During her time at The Harris, Almaas worked with the communities team in encouraging young people to get involved in The Harris’ activities and events.
Almaas said: “For me, being able to work with The Harris was a wonderful experience. I have certainly managed to learn a lot through my time here – from learning new skills to apply for future roles and my career to being able to apply my existing skills to a professional job.
The staff were always friendly, welcoming and ready to support me where I needed it.
I was able to let my creativity flow and create engaging content throughout my time here. My role allowed for me to be flexible and to able to travel in and out of the office, giving me the opportunity to harness a bunch of skills both socially and career-wise.
This was the perfect chance to start off my career and would wholeheartedly say that this role was a thoroughly enjoyable one.”
